Registration for the 2008 Canyonlands Half Marathon
and Five Mile Run lottery is now closed.
2008 LOTTERY REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
Participation is limited to the first 4000 entries chosen by a lottery (both races combined).
Lodging in Moab is extremely limited and it is quite likely all available lodging will be reserved for race weekend. Moab Half Marathon, Inc. does not guarantee lodging to entrants and will not refund registration due to lack of lodging availability or for any other reason.
There is no race day registration; no entries will be accepted over the phone or fax; and NO REFUNDS once registration is accepted.
There is no waiting list and transfer of entry is not allowed.
After the initial 4000 participants have been selected, a silent auction of 100 entries will be held. All money raised above the entry fee will be donated to local charities.
Lottery Procedures:
An online application form and a printable application will be available from November 15- December 15. Please submit only one entry. Duplicate entrants will be disqualified. Each entrant that applies will receive an e-mail. No registration forms will be mailed.
The selection will take place December 16, 2007. 4000 entrants will be randomly selected. All lottery entrants, whether selected or not will be notified by email no later than December 19, 2007. A confirmation search will also be posted on the website with registration status. Confirmation cards will be mailed out to all lottery winners in January.
In the event that you are not selected, your check will be shredded or your credit card will not be charged; or you can donate your entry fee to a designated local charity.
All groups must register online.
Groups will be considered. The motivation behind groups is very simple: there are many people (e.g. husband/wife pairs) that only want to participate if certain other people also are allowed to run. Using the group feature allows just that. You can select to be part of a group. Then everyone in that group is either all in, or all out. Once the lottery pick is made, the groups will dissolve. The purpose of the groups is only to tie a group of people together.
REGISTER THE GROUP FIRST.
The first person registering for the group will create a group name at the same time the registration is made. Subsequent registrants can search for the group by group name or by the name of members of the group that have already registered and then join that group.
The name must be unique.
Group size is limited to up to 6 entrants.
You cannot change the name of your group. So choose it carefully. Members of the same group can sign up for either race (half marathon or five mile)
Odds: The probability of being selected will be the same, regardless of whether you're in a group. Your odds will not go up or down by going through the lottery process as a group.
What if I don't know the Group Name? What do I do?
Search by name for the person who created the group or by the name of someone who should be in the group. If you still don’t see the group that you're interested in, create one.
SILENT AUCTION INFORMATION:
Registration will be available online only.
The minimum bid is $100.
Individual entries only will be accepted; no group entries.
The 100 highest bidders will be selected and notified by email.
You may re-enter your bid at a higher value once each day, but only one bid (the highest one) will be accepted per person.
If you are NOT one of the 100 highest bidders, your credit card will not be charged.
All monies above the entry fee will be donated to local charities and may be tax deductible (consult your tax preparer).
