What time does the race start?
8:30 am, MDT
Where is the race?
The course starts at Dewey Bridge, 30 miles upriver from Moab and finishes at Sorrel River Ranch Resort, 17 miles upriver from Moab.
Where and when is the Pre Race Expo?
The Expo is located at the Moab Valley Inn, 711 S. Main Street.
Expo hours are 11 am—7 pm on Saturday. There is no Sunday (race day) packet pickup.
Be sure to bring your confirmation card and a photo ID to get your race packet!
I got injured/pregnant/called out of town unexpectedly and can’t make the race. Can I have a refund?
We have a strict NO REFUND policy. Once you have registered online or via mail you will be charged and refunds are not an option. You are welcome to pickup your goody bag and race shirt, or have a friend pick those items up, if you are not running.
Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
We have a strict NO TRANSFER policy.
Then can I just give my bib to someone else?
Running with someone else’s bib number is: a safety and liability issue for race staff and medical personnel; unfair to those who didn’t get to sign up before registration closed; and alters race results, sometimes depriving a deserving award winner of their medal. Anyone running under an incorrect number will be disqualified from the race and may be banned from MHM events.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are not allowed on the course or at the finish. Find local boarding options here.
Where and when is the Pasta Dinner and what does it cost?
The Pasta Dinner is presented by the Youth Garden Project at the Moab Valley Inn, 711 S. Main Street, from 5 pm—8 pm. If you purchased tickets with registration then your name will be on a list at the door. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door. Tickets are $14 for adults and $6 for children under 12.
Registration/ Packet Pickup
I never got a confirmation email after registering.
Please check for yourself on the Registration Search. Security settings on your email may be blocking or redirecting race mail to your junk folder. Be sure to check for correspondence from us in your junk mail folder and at all email addresses you use before contacting us on this matter. Please let us know if you email or physical address changes, as that is how we stay in touch with race registrants.
I lost/never received/my spouse threw away my confirmation card.
Confirm that you are registered for the race here. Once confirmed, come to the Pre Race Expo with your photo ID and look up your bib number posted on the wall near the entrance.
I can't make it to Packet Pickup before it closes at 7 pm.
Give your confirmation card to a friend or family member who is coming down earlier. He/she can pick up your packet for you!
Shuttles
Do I have to take a shuttle to the start?
Yes—there is no parking or drop off at the start. Hwy 128 between mile markers 17 and 30 is closed to traffic at 7 am on Sunday morning.
Where and when do I catch a shuttle to the start?
You can catch a shuttle to the start in Moab at either the Moab Valley Inn or the HMK School. These shuttles depart at 6:30 am.
Or you can catch a shuttle close to the finish at the Gravel Park Lot at 7 am. Guests staying at Sorrel River Ranch Resort or Red Cliffs Lodge can catch a shuttle from their hotel.
When you register for the race, you will have to choose one of these options. If your plans change and you want to change where you catch the shuttle, send us an email. We use this info to designate where the shuttle buses go the morning of the race.
How do I get back to my car/hotel after I finish the race?
If you parked at the Gravel Park Lot, catch a shuttle back to that location. Shuttles depart from the south side of the entrance road. See map.
If you want to come back to Moab, then you can catch a post-race shuttle from SRR. These buses depart on an as-needed basis; the first will leave between 10:30 and 11 am and the last will depart between 1 and 1:30 pm.
Course
Can I walk the course? The Other Half course has a 3 1/2 hour cutoff time. This means that course support (including aid stations, traffic control and the finish line) ends at noon. The race starts at 8:30 and the road reopens to traffic at 12:00 pm, giving participants time to finish the course with approximately 16-minute miles.
Can I listen to my ipod when I'm running the race?
Per USATF regulations, you are allowed to listen to a mobile device, unless you are a competetive runner (including someone who may place in their age group). We ask that you keep the volume down or wear just one earbud in order to be aware of what is going on around you--other runners, race vehicles (including bikes) are on course too.
