ELEVATION PROFILE

The race starts near mile marker 30 on Hwy 128, at the historic Dewey Bridge site on the Colorado River about 30 miles northeast of Moab.  The course parallels the river, amid backdrops of gorgeous scenery, including prominent landmarks Fisher Towers, Castle Rock, and the snowcapped La Sal Mountains. The first seven miles roll gently; miles 8-12 contain some short hills and mile 13 is a fast downhill to the lush green finish at Sorrel River Ranch Resort.

Start

8:30 AM
The race starts at Dewey Bridge, near mile 31 on Hwy 128 northeast of Moab.  The start staging area will have porta-potties, fire barrels, hot drinks, water and Gatorade.  Warm up runs should go upriver, away from the bridge.


Time Limit and Road Closure

There is a time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes (16 min/mile pace).

Hwy 128 between mile markers 17 and 30 is closed to traffic from 7 am—12 pm.

Runners still on Hwy 128 after 12 pm are required to catch a ride in the sweep vehicle.

Timing

The race is timed using timing strips affixed to the back of the bib.  Runners will not need a separate chip.

Official results for all finishers are based on gun time.

Runners must line up at the start according to the mile pace markers.

Course Support

Water, Gatorade Endurance Formula, hot chocolate, coffee, fire barrels and porta-potties are available at the start.

Aid stations are at miles 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 and have water, Gatorade Endurance Formula and port-a-potties. Clif shots in assorted flavors are available just before the mile 6 aid station.

Medical staff is stationed along the course and at the finish line.

Not Allowed on the Course

Strollers, baby joggers, bikes, skates, scooters, vehicles and animals are not allowed.

We strongly recommend that, if you choose to listen to a portable music player at our events you keep the volume low and/or wear only 1 earbud. This is a safety issue—you need to be able to hear the runners around you and any safety or medical vehicles (including bikes) that are trying to move along the course.
